The problem

A modern cabinet that clashes with a classic bed

What it changes for you

A sleek modern cabinet looks out of place beside a carved or panelled bed. This chest brings period detail: an arched top drawer, brass knobs and turned legs. Three drawers give you more storage than most, and at 60 cm it suits taller, traditional beds.

Perfect for…

  • Period homes and French country bedrooms
  • Taller beds with a mattress top around 55 to 65 cm
  • Anyone who needs three drawers of storage
  • Pairs either side of a traditional double bed
Arches carved into the front

01

Arches carved into the front

The top drawer is carved with a row of four arched panels beneath a band of small studs, the detail that gives this chest its French country character.

It catches the lamplight in the evening and makes the bedside a quiet focal point beside a classic, carved or upholstered bed frame.

Brass knobs, turned legs

02

Brass knobs, turned legs

The two lower drawers open with small round antique-brass knobs, warm against the dark walnut tone and easy to grip even half asleep.

Four turned, tapered legs lift the chest off the floor above a simple base moulding, keeping a traditional silhouette that suits period homes.

Three drawers, 60 cm tall

03

Three drawers, 60 cm tall

At 60 cm high, it suits taller beds and traditional frames, where a low modern cabinet would end up sitting well below the mattress.

Three drawers give more storage than most bedside tables: night-time essentials at the top, then books, chargers, a spare throw and folded linen in the lower two.
